I was inspired to create a colorful flaming Phoenix illustration from a few black, and white Phoenix images I saw while casually surfing the web a few days ago.

Here is version #2: 

I created this flaming phoenix illustration using adobe illustrator (the second version was further edited in adobe photoshop). I didn't have a digital tablet to work with at the time so I chose working with Adobe Illustrator over creating a digital painting in photoshop (which by the way is 10 times more time consuming that Adobe Illustrator).

I used the images I saw online as reference photos, and then drew my ideal phoenix bird by hand. When I was satisfied with the sketch I scanned it using an app from my iphone, and started working on it in illustrator.
